Catamaran InterferenceOne problem with RANS codes is that they are diffusive. Looking at the interference effect between catamaran demi-hulls is a good way to judge this effect.

Wigley hull demi-hulls were run with various spacing to length ratios to see if the code picked up the known relationship between drag and demi-hull spacing.
|
The results were promising, with the RANS Code picking up the effect of the interference between the hulls. The magnitude of the interference was slightly damped, requiring further work to establish the best mesh settings.
